It usually takes a pretty good plunge to find supper—white-breasted cormorants are said to typically dive 30-feet underwater to find fish. There's more work to be done after the catch—like all cormorants , the plumage of our friends here isn't waterproof, so they'll spend lots of post-dive time preening and stretching their wings wide to dry off.
